the shape of water

The salt waves of the ocean are shaped by the winds and moon cycles, coloured by the reflections from the sky. Water is an amazing element, it can be soft and flowing or fierce and raging. It can smooth rough surfaces and penetrate almost everything. With 70-80% of our physical makeup made up of water I find Dr Masaru Emoto’s water crystal photography fascinating because it shows a direct correlation between our words, emotion and intent has on the structure of water.

Although I have grouped my work into various collections you will find a lot of my work focuses on the mediums of water and sand. Through these mediums I hope to remind the viewer that it is individual drops that make up the ocean, that every sand grain contributes to majestic dunes and expansive deserts. Whether or not you believe them to be insignificant individually, they are undoubtedly integral to the bigger picture. These images urge us to pay attention to small wonders of nature, which act as a metaphor for the contribution we can make when we connect with ourselves, each other, and the world around us.

“Andia, thank you for sharing your art that allows us to appreciate from our own perspectives and interpret in our unique way.”
