Upcoming events.
A common thread
I am delighted to be one of the selected artists for the Mist Gallery An Artist a Week program, beginning on 1 June, 2023. My exhibition, A Common Thread will be on from the 10-16 of August.
the ripple effect
“Just as ripples spread out when a single pebble is dropped into water, the actions of individuals can have far-reaching effects”. Dalai Lama
This exhibition explores the interconnection between all things and the ripple effects that our thoughts, words and deeds have on the world around us.
When we acknowledge the ripple effects from everything we think, do and say; we become more connected, cooperative and accountable with ourselves and the world around us.
In the Lakota tradition, when somebody is ill, the whole community gathers to say, "Thank you, your illness is manifesting the dysfunction of our community, and your healing is our healing because you're not separate from us."
This integrated and holistic thinking permeates a lot of Indigenous cultures and is often reflected in their creation stories, their language, their relationship with food and their deep connection to country. They view the living world as part of their family, rather than an inanimate ‘it’.
In separating ourselves from others, our environment and the elements we become individually insignificant, seeing ourselves as a mere drop of water, rather than an integral part of a mighty ocean.
Individually and collectively, we create the ripple effect.

Kintsugi
Kintsugi is the Japanese art of golden repair or joinery. Rather than discarding or trying to hide cracks and breaks with an invisible seam, this ancient technique highlights imperfections with golden joinery, creating something rarer and more beautiful than the original artefact. As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise or discard. It reminds us that the broken parts of ourselves are an important part of our history. “The wound is the place where the light enters you”. Rumi
Little Feature Exhibition
Each month, the team at Aspire Gallery carefully curates a selection of small works - all priced under $500 and sized below 45 x 45 cm.
The aim is to provide a range and variety of beautiful and affordable small works that can be the perfect gift for a loved one, the start of (hopefully) growing art collection, or that piece you’ve been looking for to fill that space.
But don’t delay - works are only with us for one month only (or until sold out!).
Abstract Exhibition
I am thrilled to have three of my 60 x 60 canvases included in Aspire Gallery’s Abstract Exhibition. These pieces will be on sale at the gallery from mid-August until early September.
