Selected photography

I have always liked the open endedness of abstract art, the way these borderless images without a beginning or end place the viewer in the present and create a special intimacy with the object. The conceptual nature of my photos allows each viewer to choose their own adventure and find their own unique place and meaning in each slice of life.

In my work I focus on the beauty in the detail and minutiae of the every day, the little things that are often overlooked in life and even in art, in favour of the big picture— sweeping landscapes and aerial overviews.

My work also highlights how the micro mirrors the macro. In many of my micro portraits you will discover the many shapes, symbols and patterns that reflect aspects of nature and spirituality, including animals, landscapes and angelic beings.

These micro landscapes highlight the importance that each of us plays in the bigger picture. Although our existence as individuals may only represent one drop in the ocean or one grain of sand, when combined with trillions of other water drops or grains of sand they create a powerful ocean or a sweeping sand dune.

Another common theme in my work is the ripple or butterfly effect, which shows how “small changes to a seemingly unrelated thing or condition can affect large, complex systems”. Our ability to remember our individual impact on the earth will go a long way to leaving a lighter footprint and securing the future of our planet.
